The Same Old Rhetoric:
The more things change, the more they are the same.
Some of my past blogs are coming around again as news items and misdirected information. My previous analysis of the Friant-Millerton dam story is now in the news. A plan to put a bond package on the California Assembly agenda was killed. This bill would have provided $500 million for a proposed dam at Temperance Flat near Millerton which would be a back-up dam and hold water for run-offs when the water was needed. This would provide storage which is not currently available, The usual culprits are again the liberal Democrats that are backed by the radical environmentalists.
The second item is the continuing polls which show that Bush is not doing a good job with the economy. The outlook for the economy is going into the spring season with solid employment opportunities. The labor market is strengthing with modest gains for the average worker in most of the Fed regions. Consumer prices are rising at a modest pace despite rising energy and material costs. I always wonder about the IQ’s of the respondents of these polls.
In addition, the Senate is grilling some oil executives to again try to put the blame on the oil industry. Never mind that we stop every a attempt to find new sources of oil in the USA and make it almost impossible to build a new oil refinery. Don't these “Kool Aid” Senators understand that oil is a commodity that is traded daily on the NY Mercantile exchange? The price of oil is determined by speculators and others who make decisions as to their prediction of oil prices. These predictions take into account geo-political information, estimates of supply and demand domestically and world wide and other factors.
We are witnessing the “dumming down” of the American public lead by these uneducated Senators. Also the cry for more tariffs is absurd. Finally the likes of Senator Feingold, maybe we should refer to him as Senator Strangelove, is calling for Censure of President Bush and eventually impeachment if he gets a chance. All this rhetoric with a war on and potential problems with Iran. All that I can say is what are people like Feingold thinking about and what about their constituents? Their ego’s have overcome any intelligent motives that they might have. The USA needs our prayers for reason and understanding.
