America has been drifting closer to the secular philosophies of countries like France, Germany and Holland. The most recent sign is the failure of Proposition 73 to pass in California. The abortion advocates will never stop at even allowing parents the right to notification that might provide counseling before the abortion is a fait accompli. Senators like Boxer and Feinstein have placed abortion rights as their number one criteria in approving judges. The Democratic party seems to stand on three major planks; pro-abortion, gay marriage and no reference to God. The above description does not of course apply to every democrat but the leaders of the party appear to embrace these values.

      Despite the initial approval of our going into Iraq and the affirmation of WMD’s by democratic senators in 2003-2004, it appears that selective amnesia has resulted in total denial of these once positive statements on Iraq. It is as if many democratic liberals actually want the U.S. military to be defeated in Iraq as did the media blitz that caused our pull-out and defeat in Viet Nam. One only has to observe the anti-military comments emanating from San Francisco, Berkeley and other Bay Area cities that chastise the military but would be the first to complain if their cities were ever attacked.

      I was proud to have served in the U.S. army for two years, specifically in armor with the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. The Korean war ended prior to my receiving a commission as a 2nd Lt. so I was not sent overseas in a combat situation. It is interesting to note that the majority of those senators that continually chastise the military and its mission, have never served. The movement of or our country away from traditional values and patriotism is a phenonomen that could destroy our nation if not checked and reversed. Our leaders need to set examples and not retreat from our core values.
