Health Care
October 12, 2009

As we get closer to the health care government plan, there are some questions not being answered. A recent Catholic Church Bulletin sent to parishoners pointed out that the Catholic Church has long been one of the main providers of health care in the USA. This statement in no way detracts from other religious organizations that also are health care providers. As a matter of fact, one out of six patients is cared for in Catholic Hospitals and most of these hospitals are involved with the care of the poor and indigent. Many Christian Churches, including the Catholic Church, do not support abortion or euthanasia. Unfortunately, a number of bills in both the Senate and House contain elements supporting abortion and euthanasia. If those two items were to be part of health care legislation, we might see the end of Catholic Health Care as it now exists and also the end of the service of a multitude of doctors and nurses.

A rather insignificant article appeared in the California Sheriff magazine October 2009. The headline was “The ACLU defends the rights of criminals.” On the other side. The Criminal Justice Legal Foundation is a public interest legal organization in America that works full time to protect the rights and interests of peace officers and the law abiding public. (CJLF) When CJLF faces the ACLU in Supreme Court cases involving law enforcement, CJLF wins 80% of the decisions. Hoorah for the good guys! (See www.cjlf.org/cops for more info.)
