Gary Marsella was a senior vice president with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter when he retired in 2002, after more than forty years with the company. He has been a visiting professor in business at California State University, Fresno, teaching courses in finance and investments, both in the classroom and via television.

Marsella attended the University of Santa Clara and earned a B.A. in economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He earned a certified financial planner degree from the College for Financial Planning in Denver and also a certified investment management analyst degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

President of the Marsella Family Foundation, he maintains residences in Fresno, California, and in Coronado, California, where he enjoys tennis and golf and serves on another non-profit investment board in addition to his own.

Gary worked with over 5,000 clients during those years with Morgan Stanley. He retired in 2002 and in 2003 published:
"Please Don't Feed the Bears Your Portfolio, Investment Strategies in an Uncertain Market" (Poppy lane Publishing, 2003)

The book contains 15 chapters and is designed not only for new investors but for existing investors that need to "energize' their portfolios. It stresses the need for diversification and proper asset allocation. The book strikes a balance between practical applications and theory. The information contained in the book will be helpful for retirement funds needing help, bond investors, how to handle volatility, fiduciary concerns, mutual funds and professionally managed accounts, how to spot special situations and much more.
